RESEARCH AND TEACHING IN AQUACULTURE
Hólar University College and Matís jointly offer the position of an assistant professor. The Department of Aquaculture and Fish Biology at Hólar University College conducts research in aquaculture focusing on environmentally friendly and cost effective solutions, for example in the development of feed, optimizing rearing environment, water recycling and breeding. The department employs 11 specialists and graduate students (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) are around 20. Matís is a dynamic knowledge-based research company engaged in varied research, consulting and innovation projects in food science and biotechnology. The facilities of Hólar University College and Matís are located in Veriðat Sauðárkrókur, a community of scientists and industry which fosters co-operation in innovation and resource utilization among partners.
The assistant professor’s role will be to promote interdisciplinary research in aquaculture, in conjunction with Hólar University College and Matís research programs. The successful candidate will formulate interdisciplinary research in aquaculture and related studies, teach courses, supervise graduate students and participate in innovative studies related to aquaculture.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A PERSON WITH:
- Ph.D. in aquaculture science, breeding, feed or related subjects.
- Experience in project management, research, teaching, supervision and development in the sector of aquaculture.
- Good personal skills and innovative thinking.
The evaluation of academic merits will be in accordance with the Act on Public Universities No. 84/2008 and regulations on recruitment and promotion of aca-demic staff at Hólar University College. This is a full time position. Salary is in accordance with the current collective wage and salary agreement between the relevant union, and the Minister of Finance. Otherwise, rights and obligations follow the Act 70/1996 on the Rights and Obligations of Civil Servants.
